2×2 CLL algorithms — 42 one-look last-layer cases
CLL (Corners of the Last Layer) on the 2×2 orients and permutes all 4 top corners in one algorithm once the first layer is complete (white face with matching side stickers). After CLL, only a top-face turn remains. Cube Resolver lists all 42 cases from the JPerm Algorithm Trainer, grouped by yellow-face shape, with recognition diagrams and 3D demos at /2x2/cll.
What is 2×2 CLL? When to use it
The beginner method and Ortega both split the last layer into two steps (orient, then permute). CLL merges them: recognize the yellow-face shape and the side colors, run one algorithm, done. The trade-off: you need a full first layer instead of a face, and 42 algorithms instead of 12.
2×2 CLL differs from COLL on the 3×3: COLL must preserve the last-layer edges, while a 2×2 has no edges — so many 2×2 CLL algs are shorter but do not work on a 3×3.
42 CLL cases by yellow-face shape
Recognition takes two looks: first the yellow-face shape (the same 7 shapes as Ortega OLL), then the side stickers — headlights, opposite colors — to pick the case within the group. Case counts: Sune (6) · Antisune (6) · T shape (6) · U shape (6) · L shape (6) · Pi shape (6) · H shape (4) · Yellow face done (2).
The Yellow face done group is when the top is already oriented and you only swap two adjacent or two diagonal corners — the same algs as Ortega's PBL Adj U / Diag U.
8 CLL cases share an algorithm with Ortega OLL (for example S1 is just Sune) — if you know Ortega, you already know them.

FAQ
What is CLL on a 2×2?
CLL (Corners of the Last Layer) is a set of 42 algorithms that solve the 2×2 in one step once the first layer is complete. Cube Resolver has all 42 cases with 3D demos at /2x2/cll.
How many 2×2 CLL cases are there?
42 cases: Sune (6) · Antisune (6) · T shape (6) · U shape (6) · L shape (6) · Pi shape (6) · H shape (4) · Yellow face done (2).
Should I learn CLL or Ortega first?
Most cubers learn Ortega first (12 algorithms), then move to CLL (42) to skip PBL. 8 CLL cases reuse Ortega OLL algorithms, so you don't relearn them.
How is 2×2 CLL different from 3×3 COLL?
Both solve the 4 last-layer corners in one algorithm, but COLL must preserve the 3×3 edges (40 cases, edges already oriented). 2×2 CLL ignores edges, so its algs are often shorter and do not work on a 3×3.
Where do the 2×2 CLL algs come from? Can I filter by group?
From the JPerm Algorithm Trainer (jperm.net/algs/2x2), verified on the cube model. In the app, open /2x2/cll?group=T (or Sune, Antisune, U, L, Pi, H) to pre-filter a group.
